May I ask a question of students of Congress? In the Senate, the bill calling for sanctions on Russia has 85 co-sponsors. Not mere supporters — co-sponsors. Yet the bill has been sidelined, not voted on. How common is this, for a bill that, apparently, is so popular?

Update: I offered the amendment. Not to refuse acceptance of the Qatari jet; just to prohibit Trump from taking it with him when he leaves office - after the taxpayers spend $1 billion to retrofit it. Failed 14-15. Every single Republican voted to allow Trump to take the jet.

Zelensky will return home to trepidation over the US posture but attaboys, even from opposition figures, for standing up for his country and the truth that his country is the victim, not the aggressor. Once again, because it seems hard to grasp, politics happens in other countries, too.

Trump also called Zelensky “a dictator.” To the best of my research abilities, Trump has never called Vladimir Putin a dictator. Nor have I found any case of Trump calling China’s Xi Jinping a dictator.
