- Yes, as the regime looses more military and political elites, NatSec decision-making gets harder. But the strategy of broadening the war was undertaken while all these elites were in places
- Also, Larijani’s demise does not put Iran on the pathway to being hostage to a praetorian guard (IRGC) or state collapse. It was the policies of Ali Khamenei that moved Iran toward this path, and kept it there.
