Ten years. A full decade since this province declared a public health emergency over toxic drugs. Ten years of speeches, press conferences, and policy experiments from this government. And today, after all that time, the coroner is still telling us nearly five British Columbians are dying every single day. British Columbians are entitled to ask the obvious question: what exactly has this government been doing? Because instead of focusing on treatment, this government spent years pushing safe supply and calling it compassion. They handed out more drugs and told the public that somehow this would stabilize the crisis. But addiction does not stabilize lives. It destroys them. And pretending that dependency is some kind of public health success is not compassion. Just look next door at Alberta. They chose a different path. They invested in treatment. Detox beds. Long-term recovery programs. Recovery communities designed to get people clean and give them their lives back. That’s the goal: recovery. Not permanent dependency. Because the truth... The truth that too many politicians in this province are afraid to say out loud, is that there is no dignity in addiction. There is no dignity in watching people deteriorate on the street while government programs quietly manage their decline. Real compassion is helping people get off drugs. Real compassion is treatment. After ten years and more than 16,000 lives lost in British Columbia, this government cannot keep pretending this strategy is working. Canadians are supposed to believe this is just an isolated failure of the system. People in British Columbia are not buying that anymore Let’s start with the obvious: we are glad he is gone. The Canada Border Services Agency removed him from the country and deported him. Let me be clear, that is exactly what should happen to criminals that are not of this country tied to violent criminal activity Now investigators need to go much further. Every associate, accomplice, sponsor, recruiter, and anyone connected to the school program that brought him here should be investigated. These operations do not appear out of nowhere. Someone sponsored him, someone enrolled him, someone helped him get settled, and someone connected him to the people behind this extortion network And there is a bigger question Ottawa needs to answer: are criminal networks exploiting the international student visa system as a doorway into Canada? Because if someone can arrive on a study permit and end up allegedly participating in an extortion shooting months later, something in the system is clearly being abused @MichelleRempel

Horrible news. The Liberal Government has just successfully “censored their censorship bill” by working with the separatist Bloc Quebecois to end committee debate and ram the bill through Parliament. The bill seeks to make it easier to prosecute and arrest Canadians for political and religious expression by watering down the definition of “hate speech” and removing important safeguards against abuse. We’ll continue the fight in Parliament, but there’s no way to sugar-coat the situation. This is a dark day for free speech in Canada.

Canadians have been conditioned to understand that the only place ambitions can be realized is south of the border, so ambitious Canadians emigrate. The ones who stay behind get cozy positions in the civil service, or flip residential real estate, or attach themselves to one of the Laurentian cartels, as the only available pathways to personal prosperity.
