@hazmatvt @ChaoEntertain I want to clarify that this was not YT's doing, but the Chrome extension vidIQ, which shows a lot of stats and optimization tips at a glance. YT does have an AI slop Inspiration section in the channel studio, but it doesn't scrape the thumbnails and art to generate stuff.

@EldraEcho I know I'm rehashing what everyone else has said, but even as VTuber Editor consistent scheduling makes a big difference. A schedule not just shows viewers what to look forward to, but also allows them to slot your content into their own schedules. YT really likes consistency too

Does posting a vtuber streaming schedule really matter? Do viewers actually care about them?

@FrankeyDr @TolandVlog The number times people (totally not me) have pirated something, realized they really enjoy it, and years down the line buy an official release once it finally becomes available is nothing to scoff at.

I think the overseas fan side of this debate is often misunderstood. No one in the West is claiming piracy isn't a crime. It is, full stop. But copying a digital file just isn't the same as stealing physical goods that someone else can no longer use. The bigger issue for us is access. When there's no official way to read the manga (English, Spanish, etc.), people will default to pirating it. If there is no way to be a costumer the only thing you will get is pirates. There are two types of pirates: the ones who can't buy and the ones who won't buy. You should focus on the ones who can't buy by giving them access. Arguments like "just fly to Japan and buy the physical book in a language you can't read" feel completely unrealistic to us. That's not how the world works for most fans. We also see the company/creator relationship differently. In the West, we don't treat companies or industries with that kind of automatic reverence. A company exists to serve its customers, not the other way around. Shifting all the blame onto fans and telling us we should be grateful for limited access just feels backward to us. I get what you're saying about "invisible value" and respecting the artist's unseen effort. But on our side, making the work actually available worldwide would show that same respect! And that is the issue. I think you are also dismissing us. I think if you respect us by releasing overseas, it will, in practice, dramatically reduce piracy.

最近、海外のファンが日本の漫画を海賊版で読むことへの議論が盛んになってますね。 海賊版ユーザーの言い分は、 「データをコピーするだけやから誰も損しない」「作者のことは好きやし許されるやろ」 こんな感じなんですが、これらはすべて目に見えるコストや利便性の話です。 漫画家が何年もかけて積み上げた物語、キャラクター、感情、文化。そういった目に見えない労力・価値への敬意が、根本的に欠けてしまっている。なので、そういう話をしても海賊版を使うユーザーには1ミリも響かないという現状なんです。 彼らにとって想像できないものは「価値」ではないってことですね。 僕は先日、女系天皇の是非を議論する前に「皇室制度の基礎を知ってほしい」という投稿をしました。その中で意見してくれた皇室制度廃止派や女系天皇賛成派の「一部」の人達も同じような考えが根底にあると感じました。 「法律を変えるだけ」「血が入っていれば同じ」「継承ルールの変更に過ぎない」 これらもすべて目に見えるルールや形式の話です。 2600年間積み上げられた継承ラインの連続性、建国の物語との接続、権力者が変わっても変わらなかった国家の錨(いかり)としての機能。そういった目に見えない価値を価値としてカウントすることができない。 両方に共通するのは、 「検証できて、数値化できて、今すぐ理解できるもの以外に価値はない」という考え方です。 しかし、人間の文明はほぼすべて、目に見えない価値の積み重ねで成り立っているんです。 言語、芸術、法律、国家、全部そう。伝統なんてその際たるものですよね。先人達の思いだって全部「目には見えない」 ただ、それを「架空の価値感だ」と切り捨てた瞬間に僕たちが今立っている「国家」という足元が崩壊する可能性がある。特に日本はこの「目に見えない価値」が積み上がった国だから。 自分たちが立つ「土壌」がどのようにして形成され、どのような想いが紡がれているのか、そういう「土壌」への想像力が欠けている人に、どれだけ正確な説明をしても届かない。 それはその人達が悪いんじゃなくて、その人達にとっては見えていないものは存在しないのと同じという価値観が当たり前になってしまったから。 ここに、この議論の本当の難しさがあると感じました。 それが当たり前になったから、多数派になってしまったから無くしていいのかどうか？ここはもう価値観の違いです。だからこそしっかり知って判断してほしいと思うわけです。失ってからでは取り戻せないから。先人の思いを知って後悔しても遅いから。 そして何より、こういった感覚が失われていくと「海賊版問題」みたいなことが増え続けると思います。なので微力ながらも発信は続けていきます。

@EldraEcho I'd recommend Clip Studio Pro since the one time purchase licenses aren't too expensive. MSPaint is also a good one to assert dominance.

My throat has been hurting real bad these past few days and I’ve tried to push through it 🥲 I’m taking a few days off from streaming cause I now have a cold 😭 Will still be working on stuff!!

@hazmatvt I'm all for more consistent streams 🙌 No need to feel pressured to do super long hours though, personally I feel like 3-4 hour streams are really good. Streamer has more energy and what not, less dead air. (No, I'm not biased just because I have to edit them 🙃)

I may have an opportunity coming that will let me stream with WAY more consistency, especially on weekends. PLEASE.
