Warren Buffett after spending his last years as CEO doubling Berkshire Hathaway’s cash pile to ~$400B and tying 25% of the conglomerate’s market cap to energy (Chevron, Occidental, BH Energy) on the eve of a recession and global shortage in oil and natural gas

@luusssso Love art deco. How do we define art deco? Now that we can create from nothing, but need to be precise with the style, what’s art deco?

Capitalism 2 turns 25 this year. It probably takes the crown for "most realistic business simulation" - making it a wet dream for any aspiring business founder. You start with limited capital and build a massive corporate empire in a free-market economy. You manage every aspect of business: mining raw resources, farming, manufacturing over 60 products (from food and furniture to electronics and cars), setting up retail stores, marketing, R&D, importing, real estate, and even media outlets like TV and newspapers. Micromanaging virtually everything. You own the full supply chain from oil wells to supermarkets to dominate competitors. On top of that, an in-game stock market lets you trade shares, issue dividends, and even launch hostile takeovers. On a spectrum from 1 to 10, with 1 being a mindless shooter, Capitalism would probably be a solid 12. Only for the hardcore business leaders of tomorrow (well, yesterday).

Engineering job openings are at the highest levels we’ve seen in over 3 years There are over 67,000 (!!!) eng openings at tech companies globally right now, with 26,000 just in the U.S. We don’t know if there would have been more open roles if not for AI or if AI is actually leading to more open roles, but since the start of this year, the increase in open eng roles is accelerating even more.

STATE OF THE PRODUCT JOB MARKET IN EARLY 2026 In spite of the headlines about layoffs and AI taking jobs, we’re actually seeing a lot of promising signs in tech hiring, and some interesting new trends: 1. PM openings are at the highest levels we’ve seen in over three years 2. AI hasn’t slowed the demand for software engineers (at least not yet) 3. AI roles in general are absolutely exploding 4. Design roles have plateaued 5. The Bay Area is increasing in importance 6. Remote work opportunities continue to decline 7. Despite ongoing layoffs, the overall number of tech jobs continues to grow More in 🧵
