Here’s my take on the new CFL playoff format: Do I think the league is convinced that overall this is an improvement? No I’m not. But I’m not ignorant to the fact that going from 5 to 9 playoff games is a major financial boost at a time the league is negotiating new media deals. Everyone wants a healthy CFL. So if this is what it takes i’ll live it. Even if I don’t love it. #CFL

@wally_walker I think they avoid that by giving Round 1 winners home-field in Round 3. So if #2 wins at #1, #1 hosts the Round 2 game. Then goes to #2 for the Grey Cup Semifinals.

CFL announces the 2027 season will start May long weekend. And they are adding four playoff games. They say the top-2 teams in each division will be guaranteed at least two playoff games. And they will have "division-less" re-seeding for the playoffs.

Round 2: 1v2 losers host play-in games winners. Winners advance, losers are out. Round 3: Winners from Round 1 host Round 2 winners. Winners of Round 3 play in Grey Cup.
