Kamerlid @LucStultiens vroeg tijdens de begrotingsbehandeling naar de telescoop die ik in Chili mocht openen deze maand. Door in Europees verband samen te werken lopen we als Nederland voorop in de sterrenkunde. Belangrijk voor de wetenschap en voor onze maatschappij.

3/ The #ELT’s M1 will be over 39 m across, making it the world’s largest eye on the sky. Such scale means that the mirror can’t be cast in one piece. Thus, it will consist of 798 segments working together. Segments in their shipping boxes upon arrival 👇
