When you said "struggling" and "overwhelming" I expected something different. I spent 2002 - 2003 going without sleep posting everywhere documents that proved the US was lying. I wrote letters to newspapers -- again citing official records. I don't know how to make anybody understand the agony I felt when "we" began mass murdering Iraqis. I had a ruptured aneurysm that year. My oldest child, because I was so hot, spent the night putting frozen food on my head. The doctors told her given the amount of blood, she saved my life. I still care as much as I did then, but I learned from experience that there's only so much I can do -- and nothing if I'm dead. So, to those of you whose chests hurt so much you struggle to breathe -- who can't sleep for thinking about the horrors happening... For the sake of your loved ones ( I had 3 young kids) and what you may be able to do in the future -- step away for a while. Your 24 hr agony will not console anybody -- stepping away to find some peaceful moments or even a little joy does not mean that you don't care. Those of us who were speaking out 25 years ago didn't stop any murders, but we were heard and the numbers of those speaking out have grown. Nothing you do or say will stop the US empire right now. Take care of yourself so you can continue to speak and inspire others. Find a sense of satisfaction in knowing that you are helping to build a bigger movement. Even if our individual efforts only make a tiny ripple -- that's more than we can do if we allow ourselves to become another needless victim of war. Live. The future needs you.
