@gtbank @gtbank_help @MTNNG @MTN180 My account was compromised and I need answers. I have my SIM card with me, yet someone gained access to my bank account, registered the banking app on another device, and started transferring my money. I only use one phone, so how exactly was a new device able to get authorized without my consent? Before I could react, a sum of ₦22,000 was already deducted from my account. The only reason I was able to secure the rest of my money was because I quickly moved it out through a POS. My ATM card has always been in my possession and only I have access to it. What makes this worse is that I just found an email sent since yesterday evening notifying me that my account had been activated on a new device. By then, the damage had already been done. This raises serious concerns: - How was my phone number reassigned or duplicated without proper verification? - How was a new device allowed to access my account so easily? - What security measures are actually in place to protect customers? This is not just negligence, it’s a complete failure of basic security from both the telecom provider and the bank. I will be taking legal action against all parties involved. This situation is unacceptable, and people need to understand how vulnerable their accounts may be. If this can happen to me while I still have my SIM card, it can happen to anyone. Fix your systems.
