Your opinion of Jazz Chisholm tells me who actually watches the games and who doesn’t. His at bats are not even competitive and he doesn’t have the slightest idea what situational hitting means
@KendallRogers@RiceBaseball@d1baseball Not sure if the AD furnishes enough scholarships or the scouting of talent is the issue, but unfortunately the quality of play was bad.
My gut tells me the AD is giving the program 4or5 scholarships to divvy out which makes for a trash program - seen it, lived it.
BREAKING: @RiceBaseball is parting ways with head coach Jose Cruz Jr. after 3 1/2 seasons with the program, @D1Baseball has learned. Cruz, one of the all-time greats in #Rice history, is out with the Owls currently having a 2-14 overall record this season.
Everybody is throwing a fit over the D1/JUCO ruling but they all forget these are STUDENT athletes! They have a chance to walk away with an advanced degree but all we hear about is playing time 🤦🏽♂️. Students first, then athlete.
@RealMattyBo After seeing all the supposedly stud freshmen getting cut over the last few weeks this doesn’t look too bad. D1’s will figure it out and JUCO will be more attractive and gives chances for more development. The good JUCO’s will get even stronger.
Just a horrific ruling for the NCAA that they will fight to the end. And they better win so this doesn’t become the law of the land.
Any HS player worth their salt can go Juco for 2 years and stay draft eligible. If Jucos develop, these kids will get popped after 1-2 years and never step foot on a D1 campus.
D1 will be filled with bad body, avg talent transfers that are too old. The studs with project ability will be littered in Junior College.
And why would a player want to go to D1 if they have draft interest? D1 baseball is a mess. Colleges building rosters full of grad transfers. Cut throat transfer portal activity. 24-25 year olds running around. I’d rather sign and go develop.
Big ruling by a court today that JUCO athletes who play college sports, retain all 4 years of NCAA eligibility even if they play a year or two of JUCO
Might encourage a lot more athletes to go that route
@TalkinYanks@JackCurryYES Good, young, controllable pitching could only be traded for guys that you can control for at least 2 years, 1 year of Tucker not worth it unless he signed an extension.
@CameronMaybin Like Bregman but not at what he’s asking. We could deal for Correa and Buxton also and shore up 2 spots, they are injury prone but might be worth the risk.
I'm seeing so much anti Bregman from Yankees fans... well I'll tell you who would love playing with Alex Bregman, and that's Aaron Judge!! After playing with both of them, Alex's focus, competitive fortitude, ability to post everyday, his intensity and character.... I know him and Aj would vibe so well together! There's no stat for chemistry, and I promise those 2 will to win would mesh so well.. I know they would love each other!
Players: Versatility with your game will be one of the most important aspects of your game right now. Being able to play multiple positions will be huge for college coaches. Play as many positions as possible, you will add value to any program.
