Rumor is he's donating a billion dollars to me to allocate to reformed seminaries however I see fit. Tuition problem solved.

BREAKING: Elon Musk’s odds of becoming a trillionaire this year hits 82% — a record high.

“parts” refers to the elements of the “trials” of 21-4.c
21-4.a reads “No Presbytery shall omit any of these educational requirements except in extraordinary cases”
i think it’s clear the BCO allows for complete discretion on the presbytery’s part to exclude any of the requirements. they just need to notate why and be convinced it’s good reasons.

I have known more than one ruling elder who should probably be minister but could not make it happen because they could not financially afford to do a career change as a family man in their 30s or 40s that would require a 3 year masters degree (even if they had free tuition). It's kind of a shame that there isn't a mechanism to solve this in the PCA other than "continue to work full time while neglecting your family to do 5 credit hours a semester and chip away at an internship." Most guys working full-time jobs with families are already really stretched thin and asking them to go down that path sounds like asking them to choose between the health of their family and a personal career aspiration.

@derekradney @JonMcK1647 And by new seminaries I don't mean little satellite things where the professors are smart full-time pastors doing their best, but not professional theologians and linguists. That'll do as a bandaid, but it's not good enough long term.
English

@derekradney @JonMcK1647 Oh, I misunderstood. It's an okay bandaid. Our presbytery has done that on a case by case basis. But I hope someone makes it their life project to fundraise a massive sum that solves the tuition problem and opens new seminaries in Reformed deserts. It's possible.
English

@derekradney @JonMcK1647 "No Presbytery shall omit any of these parts of trial for ordination except in extraordinary cases, and then only with three-fourths approval of Presbytery." Hard to see how "parts" could mean the whole education. Does that kind of "exception" ever happen?

@JonMcK1647 Ephesians. I'd only preached a few sermons before, so I chose something short that I'd spent a lot of time in while I got used to weekly preaching. I'd probably do it that way again.

The latest Lanier/Ross joint venture is here: a critical synopsis of the use of the OT in the NT. I'll post a lengthier overview on @DailySeptuagint in a couple weeks, but here's the basic gist.
