Made it home from @knoxvilleraces. Unfortunately, I caught a vicious respiratory bug during 360 Nationals and spent the next 8 days holed up in my room in Des Moines. Grateful for @dirtvision and to become well enough to drive home. I was thrilled to see @RyanTimms_5T, Shane Liebig and crew win the #NOSvilleNationals. An 18 y/o driver and an underrated crew chief/car owner joining together and then a few months later dominating sprint car racing's greatest race is the stuff movies are made from. I've always admired Ryan's talents behind the wheel but have more recently respected him for his maturity which exceeds his years. Winning a 50-lap race against the best drivers in that fashion is a testament not only to his physical skills but his focus and decision-making abilities not often seen in a teenager. I've known of Shane since he raced as a teenager and went on to be a businessman, track owner/promoter, car owner/crew chief. It's nice to see him get the recognition he deserves. It's unfortunate that Shane's dad wasn't still here to share his son's great moment. Sam Liebig died earlier this year. Sam and his brother, Bill, were racing icons in SD for decades as drivers and builders of sprint cars and no doubt had a huge part in Shane's racing life. Sam told me last year he was enjoying traveling to races with his son to its fullest because he knew he wouldn't be able to travel much longer due to his health. Hopefully Sam is able to enjoy his son's success in a different realm. 🏁

HOT TAKE. Years ago they mandated 33 gallon tanks no one did it. If your running 28 gallon tank today you will run out of fuel at some point. These lap counts are based on 30 gallons of fuel. We run a 33 gallon tank every race and fill it up every race which holds 31.
