@AMG_Review

Mainly sharing my thoughts on all things cinema and awards season! TV outbursts likely, and a scattering of music and theatre while I’m at it.

@AmazonMGMStudio Also hope this isn’t a crappy ‘one with the least votes gets replaced by AI in the next five films we greenlight’ 😒

@AmazonMGMStudio All of it working together, but ultimately centred around an incredible script provided by WRITERS

@jonnbridges @AEiffel95 @Variety Fair but will most people faced with hundreds of channels and streaming options choose to watch a sketch show which has a joke about Theresa May dancing on stage or Moonlight winning Best Picture SNL UK is GREAT and some sketches are timeless. But those are max 10 out of 70 mins

@chicgibson But Sky are one of the few broadcasters who can afford to mount this kind of show. No ‘terrestrial’ player could and streamers have a similar level of ‘some people don’t have access’

The amount of people suggesting SNL UK moves to Channel 4 next year… Sky are literally paying for it! Why would they give it up? It’s beaten C4 in the ratings so there’s no chance they’ll just hand it over to them? Understand how TV works

@AEiffel95 @Variety Viral clips online aren’t the same as single view episodes on their actual channel though Do many people go back and watch old Mock The Weeks for instance?

@Variety "topical shows have almost no repeatability unlike dramas".. guys SNL has massive repeatability. Ppl quote and post old clips all the time, they become part of the culture.

🥴🥴🥴 Some lazy choices (White Lotus, The Bear) Comedy categories are a bit messy (no supporting categories making it so) Double Romesh but only one solo woman in Entertainment Performance…sort it out #BAFTATV Strictly shutout?

@scottygb Just clocked. That’s something at least. Though zero nominations anywhere for Tess & Claudia’s final series of Strictly (was hoping they’d both sneak an Entertainment Performance nod)

@GHPsauce @paulburton73 Maybe with the introduction of HBO Max imminently, some of those HBO costs are freed up, plus it needs to keep making British shows and many of theirs have recently ended or haven’t had this hype around them so they can take more of a risk which other broadcasters can’t

@paulburton73 C4 cannot afford to do a weekly live entertainment show right now. Studio hire, regular comedians, crew of writers, costume, hair, makeup, set design, marketing, booking big celebs to host all price it out of mind for pretty much any terrestrial channel at the moment
