Last night I led a debate in Parliament on the impact of the cost of living crisis on stem cell transplant patients and their families. Ultimately, these patients have one chance of recovery. They need extra support from the Government now to enable them to realise that chance.

It was especially concerning to hear what Cheryl Bell, a Haematology and Haemophilia Social Worker, had to say about her experiences working with patients, with some considering postponing a potentially life-saving transplant as they simply cannot afford to be out of work.

Survey data from @AnthonyNolan @yestombishop has found that due to the financial impact of treatment, a shocking 70% of patients have considered returning to work earlier than medically advised, compromising their recovery.
