@iamluismalheiro It was given to me when I was student teaching at Niles West High School in Illinois. I, too, was the goat and bought my cooperating teacher lunch over the bet I lost. It took some trials with a die, 3 cups and a penny to convince me. Time for some more trials 🤩 🚗 🐐

@iamluismalheiro I’ve done this problem w my classes for decades and then we read the responses that were sent to her. The students and their parents loved it!! Thx for reminding me. Time to bring it back right again!!! And right before conferences 🤩🤩🤩

@howie_hua Can’t wait to do this with my geometry class next week considering we are on congruent triangle as we speak… Love it.

Draw a rectangle anywhere on a times table square.
Find the product of the diagonals. Does this always work?

Teaching directed number soon? "Proof by Patterns" is a nice way to see why a − (−b) = a + b.
Start from the top row and encourage pupils to see what patterns they spot.

@tkanold was the 1st math speaker that I saw while completing my MS at Northwestern in 1991. I then student taught at Stevenson as he led the math department. Today, he is speaking on highly effective math instruction while being highly effective, himself. Great prez! #NCTMCHI24

Run into Wrongland with your students!
What do you think might have been the most common wrong answer in these problems?
@ddmeyer can tell ya 😎

Do you believe that every student can build a better relationship with math?!? 🧐
If the answer is Yes (and it is), then you can really change the pathway of your students’ future success in math.
Behave. Believe. Become.
