No offense to Afleet Alex, but what Journalism did in this Preakness was beyond that. He had to make up so much ground. What? Six, seven lengths? Afleet Alex was on even terms when he almost went down. That was one of the most incredible performances I've seen in horse racing.

Sandman was 1/2 length ahead of Journalism nearing the 1/8th pole. Journalism ended up nearly 10 in front of him when the wire came. What an effort!

Not something you see that often in the Kentucky Derby, but the two best horses in the race ran 1-2. Journalism ran a winning race but was just second best on the day. Sovereignty has been expertly managed for this race by Bill Mott, and all the signs indicated he would love the distance and get the right pace to close into. And that he did!
