South African's now living abroad. This is for you. I am looking to connect with the companies that import SA goodies overseas, to be re-sold through all the SA product and speciality stores in the UK, UAE, US, CANADA, IRELAND, AMSTERDAM, AUS and NZ. I would also love to connect with any of your local SA stores that you buy your NikNaks, Creme Soda and Biltong from, wherever they are in the world. If you know someone who knows someone who does this, please tag them or drop me an email at andrew at goodthingsguy dot com

Rand Water
Rand Water@Rand_Water·
As soon as pumping resumes, it might take one to three days for low-lying areas to receive supply. This period is prolonged for all high-lying areas, especially those that depends on reservoir levels and pressure. Recovery in those areas is anticipated to take up to two weeks.

@Rand_Water Why was that not told before? Why you said only 3 days and 5 hours? Why not the whole story of 2 freaking weeks so we could prepare ourselves mentally and water-wise? Why there was no information about recharging?

The way some people on Twitter talk about "letting the rand and economy burn" is just plain crazy and ignorant. You can see these people have no understanding of how much worse the lives of the average South African will get. You think black people suffer now? Just you see what happens if the rand is R25 or R30 to the dollar, property rights are taken away from ALL South Africans (not just whites), foreign investment dries up, people with money leave South Africa, companies big and small close, and the wealth of the middle class completely dries up. It's so easy to throw phrases around the way many do on Twitter but they have NO clue what the consequences are if our economy doesn't start growing. When people talk about stabilising the country and "markets", it isn't some agenda to expand "white privilege". It's about creating the necessary conditions to grow the economy. That is all we should be focused on right now. Anyone who says otherwise has ZERO understanding of how the world works. So many thugs on Twitter are playing hard and fast with our future because of their own traumas and victimhood. This isn't a joke. Every single South African, regardless of skin colour, needs this economy to start thriving.

OK..I was wrong. Having spent a bitter cold Saturday reading the manifesto's of the EFF and MK (a country run by traditional leaders, amongst other things), I now accept a deal between the ANC and DA is best of all evils. If you thought the EFF was radical, go and read the MK party manifesto. Off the chart cuckoo land stuff.!
Magda Wierzycka@Magda_Wierzycka

Let’s all hope. The best way to think about it is your long term wealth/savings. Rand strengthens, foreign investment is unlocked, prescribed assets requirement is likely off the table, provincial governments are stabilised. Best outcome for SA. news24.com/fin24/economy/…

I Voted for ActionSA in my Regional National Ballot... for a few reasons: - Mashaba's tenure as JHB mayor - Illegal Foreigners - Economic Revival - Rooting out Corruption But yerr... they are not doing well & I'm wondering if it's: the arrogance of refusing to possibly work with the ANC or EFF (which only left the DA pre-elections, basically), notions of pro-Israel, money from WMC, the multi-party charter, Rise/BOSA, or other reasons? It could also be that many White folk who voted for ActionSA in 2021 decided to go back home to the DA or VF+? But I'm disappointed. And the ActionSA team should be as well.

I like the way the DA governs. I do think the Western Cape is the best run province by a mile. My issue with the DA is simply that for the last five years, the ANC have done everything to lose this election and the DA still didn’t gain meaningful ground. Isn’t the point of a political party to increase the number of votes? If this is the case, the DA didn’t move the needle at a time when the ANC are at their weakest. Tells you everything you need to know 😉

All the DA managed to do in this election was win back 1 percentage point from the FF+. It's on track to get 21.8% of the vote. When will the party realise that a John- and Helen-led DA will never expand beyond its core base?
