My comments about Pat Williams during his Memorial Service just a few weeks ago. There was no one quite like Pat. His career spanned more than 56 years, including 30-plus years with the Magic and 51 years in the NBA

#SuperBowl #HenryBlackaby One of the most significant signature leaders of our generation has passed. Henry Blackaby was a man who Experienced God. He was a man who saw a revival. He was a man who was a leader to leaders. Perhaps most significant was not his books, his platform for decades, or even his ministry... Rather his love for his family and generations of them following God. That is the greatest message he ever spoke. Below is a clip from @AlwaysAWayAudio interview did with his son Richard Blackaby on the topic of Spiritual Leadership. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the…

LAST NIGHT IN FOSTER CARE - A STORY IN ADOPTION. Tomorrow at 11:00 little man will be ours forever. ⏮️- Rewind to last April when the Lord spoke to my wife dramatically & supernaturally that we would be bringing another into our family. A day later we got the call for this guy. So MANY of you gave financially for us to get a baby room ready in less than 48 hours. . It had been a decade since we had a baby of that age So many of you have PRAYED with us on the journey. It was an answer to prayer that we got chosen to adopt him. An absolute answer to much prayer and fasting. ⏮️⏮️ Rewind even more to many Fridays spent in the prayer room @ihopkc and prayer for the fatherless would arise. Something I am grateful to all past & present leaders of #IHOPKC for making a priority. @EricVolz @LennyLaGuardia @isaaccbennett @stuartgreaves @DBarkleyBriggs @mistyedwards_, General Fuller, & others. Someone has a burden to make this a constant theme of prayer over the years and for many years to come. Jesus cares about the fatherless. The Lord used the story of @calebdedwards & others to encourage us in this journey. The faith and obedience of others increases our own faith in our journey. Personally I believe if the church got more involved, there would be no kids waiting to be adopted. CONTINUING ON 📼 Little did we know the Lord would call us to adopt and foster. It was a calling from the Lord. Convenient? Nope Costly? Yes Worth it? Undoubtedly We are not done-A family of 8 and growing. Making mass awareness for foster care/adoption & youth mental health is why I ran 153 consecutive Marathons. It's why I am running the circumference of the globe now. 24,901 miles. Massive miles everyday. —You see I was adopted 3 times 1. First by family who became my new parents 2. Second by church family who became family and encouraged me when they could not see what Jesus saw. They had no idea I would be with Presidents and speak to thousands. I was just another kid who needed a ride to church. 3. Third by Jesus who gave His life so I could be adopted into an eternal family. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ More backstory can be found here ⬇️ @OurCornerstones cornerstonesofcare.org/Blog/Advocacy

EVERYONE ON @X PLEASE PRAY NOW A MIRACLE IS NEEDED ✍️ @mark_joubert 😭😭😭 We've had bad news. After a successful transplant, our son's donor heart has not started beating. He will transition to ECMO (heart bypass machine) for a couple days in hopes that it begins to beat. Otherwise, he will pass away. Please pray for us all. May the Lord be glorified.

Thoughts on the Public Invitation - Conciseness One of the things I learned from my pastor, Dr. @AdrianRogers, was the importance of leaving enough time at the end of the sermon so as not to have to rush the invitation, as well as not introducing anything new or confusing during the call for response. In his lecture on the Public Invitation, Rogers estimated it took about five minutes to explain how to be saved and respond clearly. He stressed the importance of being concise in the invitation and not introducing new factors. As Rogers said, “Don’t chase rabbits.” An example of Rogers’s approach to a concise invitation is found in his sermon from Mark 5 entitled “Overcoming Satan.” “And so, if you’re willing to receive Christ as your personal Savior tonight, I’m going to ask you [to] pray a prayer of faith in your heart. Say “Lord, Jesus, right now I’m trusting you.” Then I want you to get up out of your seat and come forward. And let your coming forward be your way of saying what you said privately, openly, publicly, and unashamedly, that tonight you’re trusting Jesus Christ as your Savior. Tonight, you’re confessing Him as your Lord. And if you will trust Him with a child-like faith, I guarantee you on the authority of the Word of God, that Jesus Christ will forgive your sins. Jesus Christ will come into your heart and give you power over Satan. And when you die, He will take you to heaven. I wish I could do it for you. I can’t. I’ve preached as best I know how. I know the Lord is knocking at your heart’s door. Jesus will save you tonight, if you will but trust. The counselors are standing; we’re going to sing in just a moment an invitational hymn. Bro. Jim, what are we gonna sing? Turn to it quietly, reverently. Let’s stand together as we sing. Others of you may need to come and transfer your church membership. You come also. The young people are clearing the front row. You come as we sing. Let’s sing it together.” #preaching #pastor #pastoralministry

GREAT SERMONS THAT SHAPED SOUTHERN BAPTISTS ✍️ @DrBradWhitt W.A. Criswell's historic 1985 sermon, "Whether We Live or Die," delivered at the SBC Pastors' Conference in Dallas, TX, fueled the Conservative Resurgence in the Southern Baptist Convention, solidifying a commitment to biblical inerrancy, conservative beliefs, and evangelistic zeal. Its lasting legacy continues to impact the convention's beliefs and leadership today, highlighting the enduring influence of First Baptist Dallas' longtime pastor.

A REFLECTION ON “A BAPTIST AND HIS BIBLE” ✍️ @DrBradWhitt Some sermons impact and imprint a generation. Like R.G. Lee’s “Payday, Someday,” which dramatically illustrates the effects of sin and points people to the Savior, and W.A. Criswell’s “Why I Preach the Bible As Literally True” which laid the foundation for the Conservative Resurgence. Jerry Vines’ “A Baptist and His Bible” was a clear call for preachers to boldly and confidently stand on the inerrancy, authority, and sufficiency of the Bible as they call on people to turn to and trust Christ.

The Leadership of Adrian Rogers @DrBradWhitt ✍️Adrian Rogers was a once-in-a-generation leader who willingly stepped forward and stood in the gap when the Southern Baptist Convention needed a convictional, conservative leader the most. Because of his sacrifice and service, pastors and people from across the SBC joined him to stand for the truth and authority of Scripture. They followed him in rallying under the banner of the gospel to turn the denomination from jumping off the cliffs of compromise and being dashed on the rocks of liberalism. Heaven will tell, and history will testify of the eternal impact his leadership and ministry had, not just on the SBC but the world and eternity for the cause of Christ!
