@ClayTravis I have never left the khaki pants era. I haven’t worn or even bought a pair of jeans since 2002. I work from home but my entire “pants” selection consists of suit dress pants, khakis, dress shorts, ath-leisure/jogger pants, and shorts. To this day I still find jeans constricting.

This was the peak of the khaki pants era, when it seemed jeans were forever dead. From like 1992 to 2000, khakis dominated. I don’t think I even owned a pair of jeans then.

I’ve had similar experiences with my mother. When you’re little, the world is so small, all you think about is yourself. As you get older, the world becomes much bigger, and you see yourself as a member of a large group of people. When you get as old as she is, your world gets small again. Old people revert back to the beginning. It’s hard, have patience, it’s the circle of life. You’ll be there one day.

My husband spent his vacation traveling to Illinois, cleaning out his mother's house by himself, driving a few things to his cousin in Tennessee, and then driving home. He put nearly a thousand miles on the moving truck he rented. Yesterday we began unloading his mom's things in her apartment, but we let her know we weren't finished and would be back today. Last night she called to give him hell because she assumed he had forgotten a roll of stamps she wanted. A roll of stamps. As it turned out, he DID bring them - they just haven't been unpacked yet. Still, the pressure of the last week was too much to bear and he unloaded on her. She ended up apologizing and reassuring him that she DOES appreciate our efforts. The Bible orders us to honor our parents, but I refuse to believe this only goes one way. Old folks - when your children are still working and tending to their families, but they are willing to put themselves out to take care of you, too, HAVE SOME PATIENCE. Be grateful. And for God's sake....don't focus on minutiae.
