My paper 'The taking place of older age' is out in @culturalsage. It is concerned with how the category of older age (oft. experienced as an ever-receding horizon) is made through representations, and the different ways people encounter and relate to it. doi.org/10.1177/147447…

@Halfa1965 @BudworthPoppy @elliebarker25 @GeographyUOM I believe it was introduced this year - 8am starts and 6pm finishes. Seems a bit unnecessary. Also timetabling which puts 6 hours of teaching on one day. Plus side is it is largely done and dusted for the week, downside it is totally exhausting and my throat hurts...!

An excellent group at the first 'life-course geographies' lecture today, despite the 4-6pm slot! Shout out to the fab @BudworthPoppy for her introduction and teaching assistance on the module, and to @elliebarker25 for coming along to share her PhD research! @GeographyUOM

First attempt at mixed media with crayons. Next time, more crayons, less paint. And a badger's bottom, apparently @ChrisFreyDavie1

This morning #geographer @Jamie_Woodward_ (@GeographyUOM) was on @BBCBreakfast talking about sewage dumping and the urgent action that needs to be taken to improve the state of UK rivers. #Geographerinthenews
Saul Staniforth@SaulStaniforth

.@Jamie_Woodward_: "We need to take away the incentive of polluting our rivers.. its still an incredibly profitable activity dumping untreated sewage in rivers" The solution is to nationalise the water industry and start running it for our benefit, not shareholders
