Trying to let go of perfectionism and embrace my learning journey by practicing indigenous cedar bark weaving. Thank you Matthew Williams for the inspiring teaching (and patience!)

@MrsNasio Marin: are these chicken eggs? Why are they different colours? Archer: when are they going to hatch? Will they all hatch or are some not fertilized? Thanks for the learning opportunities, Mrs. Nasio! 😊

Another infographic that has impacted my understanding of what is going on around us. This shows the importance of understanding multiplicative thinking as well as our personal and social responsibility right now. #numeracy #corecompetencies

Already hearing that student/parent anxiety is escalating with this new eLearning reality. We may be inadvertently making things worse by pouncing with work & trying to rush normalcy. Connect on an emotional level first; the learning will come. #bced #ATAssessment #GFIO

Just a few weeks ago, after the cancellation of our RE study tour, I thought this virus wouldn’t affect us here in the same way. Then the graphs & models starting being posted by scientists and my thinking changed. This is why numeracy needs to be a focus in our schools.

The B.C. government has announced that all K-12 in-class instruction will be suspended until further notice. The district will continue to provide updates as they become available. We ask for your patience as we await more details and confirm next steps.

Everyone wants to be brave. Very few of us want to feel vulnerable. There is no courage without uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. Brave is vulnerable. Embrace the suck.

Why is it important to develop number sense? Just because a st can memorize an algorithm or calculate #'s quickly does not mean that they have a strong sense of numbers. We want to develop thinkers, problem solvers and theory makers . . . we have calculators to . . . calculate.

If a student turns something in late, it doesn’t mean the student knows the content less. Similarly, just because a student turned it in on time, doesn’t mean the student knows the content more. Grade learning, not behaviors.
