@crimsoncide Absolutely. I strongly believe these people are like this because of their own inability to comprehend and cope with adult concepts. They only want fun safe escapist products. They're so aggressive because they feel like their mental harmony is being trampled upon by fanworks.

this is exactly why i'm assured most antis lack deeper literary exposure. reacting to dark fiction with outright censorship rather than analysis wouldn't survive in an academic setting. god forbid they carried that attitude into a university, they'd be outright mocked.

@SuperBearNeo This is what is so infuriating about the topic. You see "normalized" and "harmful" thrown around all the time, but no data to back it up. No cases or studies cited. These people aren't psychologists yet they talk like they have authority on the subject. It's all just "vibes".

@LarryBundyJr Redline Crooks has a similar idea. It's a racing beat-em-up game where you spend HP to boost and regain HP by destroying other cars. Boosting to slam other cars is primarily how you attack, so the more aggressive you play the lower your HP but the higher the rewards.

Just a thought. What would you feel about a design mechanic in a game where a sword you use was connected to your health bar? The more you attack, the lower your health becomes, but the tradeoff is the attacks become more powerful? You'd regain all health as soon as you stop.

@DingusTheStrix It kinda already has been studied. There's real psychology behind it. It's been observed that some people take on moral policing out of projection for their own feelings of guilt.

I'm convinced that every person who virtue signals about loli either has skeletons in their closet or is mentally unstable. They either get caught with illegal material and/or crash out publicly. I think what actually needs to be studied are people who perceive loli (and all art in general) as wholly mimetic, with no room for nuance.
Emerald Apple@AI_EmeraldApple

The downfall of Schlep should be studied, and so I studied it. Schlep is a popular content creator who has been exposing pedophiles in a popular game called Roblox. His actions led to the arrest of 6 individuals, with 5 of them charged, and 3 of them pled guilty. On March 31st 2026, Parlo drops a Google Doc alleging that his voice actor, AceTheNarrator, solicited nudes/CSAM from actual minors as young as 11. Schlep was warned about this fact back in Aug 2025, but kept working with him for videos, and stayed mutuals on Discord and X. Schlep downplayed the allegations, saying that it's "4th hand info" or that it was just "minor on minor" stuff. He then posts a strong denial, saying that Parlo is a malicious actor who is being used themselves and has retracted prior incorrect statements. Schep has promised a point-by-point rebuttal of Parlo's allegations but has not delivered it. He then pivots hard back to Roblox and starts attacking the anime/loli community. On April 2nd, AceTheNarrator nukes his entire social media account. Schlep built his brand and content identity on catching real predators on Roblox, but after he was banned from Roblox for allegedly using harmful tactics to 'catch' predators, he then started shifting to policing fictional content, such as fictional anime/loli content. Schlep thought attacking “lolicons” would be easy... a low-hanging fruit. But in doing so, he angered the Japanese community, the broader anime community, and even the community that genuinely wants predators brought to justice. By painting a strawman equating lolicon with simple pedophilia, he conflates fiction with reality… lines on a paper vs actual human victims. The main friction many are pointing to is that he ignored the real predator within his circle while attacking drawings and 'cartoons'. Instead of explaining anything, Schelp has repeatedly denied everything without any receipts... no chat logs, no cutoff proof, no time stamps to prove that these allegations are false. This is the hypocrisy and selective enforcement that many are pointing to. While standing on the moral high ground, he uses the anime/loli controversy to deflect from his own drama surrounding AceTheNarrator, where he deliberately ignored warnings and kept the association anyway.

@Yuvena9 @suchnerve I think you see it so often in "fandom spaces", as a result of immaturity. These people can't cope with adult concepts themselves so they cling to media that are safe fun escapist products. It's why they're so aggressive against adult fanworks, it disrupts their "mental peace".

Then again, it really shouldn’t be surprising that the “Depiction = endorsement” media illiteracy crowd would overlap with the “Kink = abuse” sex negativity crowd, considering both mindsets stem from a failure or refusal to understand how other people’s intentions work

@naranciagaming I think a good portion of the people advocating for censorship are doing so from a place of infantilism. They struggle to cope with adult concepts themselves, and they'd be okay with media getting neutered because they'd rather have safe fun escapism products than thoughtful art.

to add to this, a lot of what people think of as "inappropriate" for teenagers is actually extremely relevant and, dare i say, healthy for them to engage with. sex, violence and depression are exactly the kinds of things that teenagers want and frankly need to learn more about...

You’re supposed watch movies, anime, play video games etc that are “too old for you” when you’re 14 because it helps you build your taste. You’ll thank yourself for it when you grow up

@realNikandros At the end of the day this is still all in the realm of fiction. No children were ever exploited, even if it's porn of character who was drawn once with a reference image of a child. Again, you are against the idea of it, not the reality of it.

@realNikandros The idea of somebody sneakily tracing or using an AI filter to distribute edits of real CSAM is an entirely separate issue altogether. That is already very illegal and if anybody got caught doing it, yes, those "nasty lolicons" would be against that person for doing that.

"It's fictional content!" "No real children are being harmed!" Contrary to popular belief, artists don't conjure images from a void in their imagination. It's actually impossible to think up a totally original, unique idea that isn't derived from something that already exists. What reference material do you think loli artists use for anatomy, pose, proportions etc? Just because anime or cartoons are stylized doesn't mean that they're entirely detached from real human anatomy. The reason why predators keep getting caught with this stuff is because these drawings are depicting child anatomy in a manner that pedophiles find arousing. The other people looking at it aren't necessarily going to molest a real child, but they still have a pedophilic attraction. What I find fascinating is how many l*licons are willing to condemn Shadman for drawing explicit art of real children or child actresses, while tolerating drawings that "are not based on real children". Bro, they all are. The only difference is the extent to which it looks like a specific child. If it looks like one kid it's not okay, but if the drawing is based on pictures of 10 kids it's fine? How does this work? Do you think someone like Chibireviews is evaluating what material the artist use as reference when drawing the pictures in his special folder? If all you have is the final product, you really can't, unless you're already familiar with the source material. For all he knows, the artist might've used CSAM as reference. You think the artist is going to say that publicly? It could also be CSAM passed through an AI filter. As AI models get better that's only going to become less noticeable and more likely to happen. Vaush already had a bunch of AI images in his tax folder that he didn't notice were AI.

@JadeAtrophis And the proposed solution for this is to kneecap the entire internet to either make it all child friendly or require ID verification nonsense, since apparently not shoving everyone into the same box isn't an option.

@JadeAtrophis Online childrens media still operate primarily through the major social media walled gardens instead of staying contained to their own clean websites. Kids have no choice but to step over facebook, twitter, and discord to reach their game and cartoon spaces.
