@NYSLabor No matter how many times I call , I cannot seem to be able to talk to a representative that can complete my claim . @NYGovCuomo this is unacceptable. You can’t force people to stop working and not have a contingency plan as a back up .

ICYMI: Our telephone filing services have been extended through Saturdays. 📢: If you are unable to get through our system by tomorrow, you will still receive full UI benefits back to your date of unemployment.

@NYSLabor it gets even more ridiculous. via a twitter conversation with @NYSLabor earlier today, i just now received a phone call. i thought the call was to take my application, but the call was only to let me know they'd be open tomorrow. #useless. tomorrow = another day of hangups.

@NYSLabor it is impossible to call as required. your system simply hangs up, after entering SS# and PIN. now 75+ times for me. do something to fix this, that would actually be helpful.

We are experiencing an unprecedented increase in the volume of calls/traffic for UI claims. This surge has created intermittent interruptions in service. Here's how we're working to address the situation so everyone who is entitled to benefits receives them in a timely manner:

@NYSLabor I know you’re doing your best, but I’ve called in 30 times today and been hung up on every time. Don’t even make it to HOLD. Just “please wait”... CLICK. Maybe a new phone system?

@NYSLabor @catdelbuono a totally unacceptable response. no one can get through, as evidenced from twitter/facebook. asking us for patience is not a strategy. you are failing thousands of people as they enter an employment crisis.

@NYGovCuomo - do you have anything to say to the thousands of NYers that are being failed, in epic fashion, by @NYSlabor?? it is impossible to complete a UI application, because the phone system is antiquated/broken, impossible to speak to someone and complete the process.

@nyslabor this morning, after claims of improvements, this is the reality. 1) phone rings into dead air. 2) phone rings, is never answered. 3) system answers, says "we are experiencing technical difficulty and cannot assist you, call back later." you should be ashamed.

FYI: Filing for Unemployment Insurance benefits later in the week will not delay payments or affect the date of claims. In you are unable to get through our phone or online service this week, you will still receive your full benefits back to the date of unemployment.

@NYSLabor we will never be able to get through, given the way you are handling this. this morning (3/20), the phone simply rings into a dead line. epic fail.

@NYSLabor it is impossible to complete your final step, as your phone system hangs up, every single time i go through the routine. i have called over 50x over two days, and have never gotten through. you have made no meaningful improvement in terms of actually completing your process.

@NYSDOLCommish this is completely inaccurate from a user perspective. the required phone interview call still ends with the system hanging up, every time i call. claiming that this has been solved is fake news.

Unemployment Insurance update. ⬇️

@CarolynBMaloney @NYSLabor No Carolyn, they haven't. The final step requires a phone call with a live person. But the system hangs up on you, every single time. 20x today, same as yesterday. This is a fail and catch-22 of epic proportions; do something to actually help us.

@RandomWorkx @NYSLabor a good idea. but at this moment little evidence that they will correct this glaring fail any time soon.

@NYSLabor Perhaps we could download a form, complete it and submit it through a secured email address or fax line. You can hire people to help process these claims and give NYers peace of mind that they WILL receive their benefits. 3/3

If you are filing a new Unemployment Insurance claim via phone or web, the day you should file is based on the first letter of your last name: A-F: Monday G-N: Tuesday O-Z: Wednesday If you missed your filing day, please claim on Thursday or Friday. Please share far and wide.

ICYMI: We have extended our telephone filing hours for Unemployment Insurance claims. •Mon - Thu: 8 am - 7:30 pm •Fri: 8 am - 6 pm •Sat: 7:30 am - 8 pm

@NYGovCuomo @NYSLabor fix the NYS unemployment office website/phone system debacle - impossible to complete application for benefits. a complete fail during constituent's time of dire need.

We know people are experiencing tremendous economic pressure due to #COVID19. To help, NYS will direct mortgage payments be WAIVED for 90 days based on financial hardship (w/ no late fees & no negative impact on credit). We will help New Yorkers suffering financially.

@NYSLabor impossible to complete application, and nothing of substance from you or the commissioner on concrete action being taken to resolve. you are failing us.

@NYSDOLCommish I was connected with a representative who helped file my claim, she told me to stay on the phone to go through the payment process...then YOUR SYSTEM HUNG UP ON ME! Now I'm back to square one calling non-stop! What am I supposed to do now???

Providing Unemployment Insurance benefits is DOL’s number one priority, and everyone who is entitled to UI benefits will receive them in a timely manner. Due to enormous volume, our systems are slow but we are serving each and every New Yorker. Please be patient.
