@thirdwire Any chance we could get like a bundle deal for the DLCs, I really enjoy the game and don't mind paying a bit, but to purchase everything is kinda time consuming and kinda expensive, especially when you want just 1 or 2 aircraft from a specific bundle.

@SciGuySpace Considering the ESA/Europe didn't even sustain ATV beyond 2015 (a far cheaper vehicle for sure) the chances of a crewed vehicle (which will definitely be far more expensive to develop) are slim to none.

European astronauts say the continent should have its own crewed spacecraft so that, European taxpayers’ money would not "be used to advance industrial competitors from abroad." arstechnica.com/science/2022/0…

@DJSnM Opinion: XS-1 was always flawed, DARPA claimed they wanted >Mach 10 separation speeds, which was ridiculous, in order to fly back to land they would literally need to have the Delta_V close to a SSTO, first to kill the mach 10 horiziontal velocity, then burn ~mach 10 to go back.

@AJ_FI So Long March '6A' has a completely new first stage with double the engines, additional solid boosters, weighs more than 5x more than the original, is still somehow in the same family as the Long March 6? 🤔

CASC says the first Long March 6A, featuring a liquid core and solid boosters, has arrived at Taiyuan launch centre, where a new launch pad awaits. Launch to follow sometime after Chinese New Year. m.weibo.cn/detail/4730938…

@SciGuySpace @jeff_foust Some math: SpaceX offers roughly 5000$ per kg to SSO for rideshare, launcher one does 300kg to SSO. That's 1.5 million per launch, Virgin says it'll make 2 billion in revenue in one year by 2026, that's 1333 launches per year. Seems legit to me idk about you guys.

Missed this from @jeff_foust's story earlier this week on Virgin Orbit's future plans. "Hart said that his company offers 'the lowest cost per kilogram in the market,' but did not disclose a specific cost number." Does that seem credible to anyone? spacenews.com/virgin-orbit-t…

@SciGuySpace You should do an article on the cubesats to fly on Artemis 1, theres a lot of exciting stuff there including a nifty little cubesat thats like mostly solid rocket motor that will attempt to land on the moon! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OMOTENASHI

Affordable reusability has become a critical component of spaceflight. The shuttle was largely reusable, but the cost of maintenance between flights was very high. In some cases it would have been cheaper to make new parts for each launch...

Whoah. Mike Garcia, a Republican from California, says SpaceX's recovery of 26 rockets last year during a pandemic was remarkable, and notes it is three times the rate of the shuttle. You almost never hear this kind of talk from Congress.

@SciGuySpace Can you add an H-3 option? Its about as capable as Ariane 6 and Vulcan, and has a good chance of launching before both.

@joebarnard en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/OMOTENASHI it's not 400 Estes rockets exactly, but it's a solid rocket for the touchdown phase and has a fairly high touchdown tolerance by using airbags. Flying on Artemis 1.

@SMexican84 @ILoveSpaceX42 @MarcusHouse @elonmusk Higher grip = lower durability and vice versa. Its just the way it is, no getting around it. These sports compounds on teslas are already fairly low durability, and maybe you could compromise durability a wee bit more, but we're already at a point where they've done that.

@SMexican84 @ILoveSpaceX42 @MarcusHouse @elonmusk But you wouldn't want to make the road tire from that material, dragster tire material is made to be similar to glue, and falls off easily, in addition its meant to be 'warmed up' by spinning the tires, these characteristics which make it a good drag tire make it a poor road one.
