@TimSweeneyEpic Yeah, no words you say now can justify the actions you have caused today. You have laid off the people who actually cared about this game and wanted it to be the best it can be for the players. People you should've kept and protected as they we're more valuable than you.

In the coming days, employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality folks. An important thing to understand is that Epic never lowered our hiring standards as we grew, and the layoff wasn't a performance-based "rightsizing" as companies call it nowadays. It's a sound bet that anyone with Epic Games on their resume is in the top few percent of their discipline.

I just want to let you all know beforehand, Fortnite will most likely never be the same again following the decisions made by Epic today. This is playing out just how things went in 2023, price increases & layoffs within a short time. The game took multiple years to recover from this, and not only has that work just been reversed today, but we have gone even farther back than this. This is most certainly the worst thing to happen to Fortnite and maybe even Epic as a whole, and even if it manages to recover, it won't be the same. But regardless, we are likely going to enter a dark period pretty soon, which I think we'll begin to see the effects of around the end of this season. Many important core people, such as @evankinney and @SteveDanuser, were also laid off today. Steve Danuser is a MAJOR part in why the story has finally become good again, and Evan has played a huge part in basically all of epic's season launches, live events, tournaments etc. And that's just a couple, about a quarter of Epic's workforce was laid off today. Epic has even begun to shut down underperforming modes, as Festival Battle Stage, Ballistic & Rocket Racing will all be shutting down this year. This is all in favor of the metaverse, an idea that has been proven time and time again to be unhealthy for the game. This is all in favor of paying creators of maps like Steal A Brainrot or Crazy Red VS Blue as much as 50K A DAY. If Fortnite continues doing things the way they are now, the end might not be as far off as we all want it to be. Hopefully they're able to realize their mistake in time and fix this. If not, I really hope every single Epic employee affected by the layoffs is able to find a good job, and I wish them all the success they deserve. And to the community, please do not let this go. Do not stop pushing for Epic to do something about this no matter what. If you do let this go, nothing will change.

1000 people are without a steady income as of today, most who built the entirety of the game and made sure it works. But no, lets respectfully criticize the billion dollar company and it’s CEO who was in favor of Grok undressing children.

Theres so much I want to say about how genuinely fucked up this is from every possible angle but it all boils down to how in the past couple months we've gotten a: - v-buck price hike - shut down epic gamemodes - 1,000 laid off epic employees ALL before taking a single dime away from maps like these:

Epic games and Fortnite is going to completely die off when GTA 6 drops. You can say I’m a hater but every day they’re striving into a shittier direction and losing the core community of what made Fortnite special to begin with Stop trying to be a new Roblox. It’s Sad

i have done so much for this company and our games so many late nights so many weekends so many live events, and competitive events, and new features, and new seasons solid performance reviews every time with multiple people mentioning how critical i am and what an impact i make across multiple teams just to be thrown out i don’t get it.

It's been great reading through the feedback on Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 and seeing comments like, "this could be peak if there was more movement...", all while knowing players are about to unlock Power Gloves that can launch you, and upper cut an enemy, 50 feet into the air - and a Rift Rifle that can create a Rift to rotate through!

I have a similar stance. I love the core gameplay so far, its one of my fav battle royales as of recent, but theres these changes no one asks for and bugs they will not fix piling on that are beginning to seriously piss me off. (🧵 Fred warning)
