WE. NEED. RAIN. 🌧️ To put this drought into perspective... Central and NE Arkansas would need at least 25 inches of rain by the peak of the growing season to recover. That’s well above the normal rainfall for April, May, and June—and if we don’t catch up by then, it’ll be tough to recover before fall harvest. #ARwx

@joel_off_air Joel I have a feeling time it’s over this will be the number 1 drought in history

It wasn't much... But it was great to see at least a few light showers reach the ground early Tuesday morning.
Most of this fell in a band positioned from Conway and Jacksonville, southeast toward Lonoke and Stuttgart. Looks like it was just a few tenths of an inch at most. #ARwx

@JamesBryantWX I never seen it this dry or quiet. This will go down as the number 1 drought after its complete

This is a good reminder that even though it's quiet now, it's always important to be weather aware this time of year.
We're quickly approaching April - our busiest month for tornadoes, especially strong tornadoes (EF2+).
1950-2025 April strong tornadoes (EF2+) are plotted here and you can easily see the historical hotspots.
Pulaski, Faulkner, and Lonoke counties lead the way with northeast Arkansas a close second.
Little Rock is one of the most tornado prone metro areas in the entire US. Pulaski and Lonoke counties are top 10 nationally when calculating tornadoes by path length.
Southwest Arkansas has gone a long time without a major tornado event, but historically they have had some large long track tornadoes in the month of April!
Our goal this spring is to bring you tornado coverage that is easy to understand and easy to access.
When our weather turns bad again, Arkansas Weather Network will be here! Download our mobile app or follow us on Facebook or YouTube.

“I don’t know yet if Arkansas will be able to rebound against Arizona’s front court, but I do know this:
Arkansas will have the best player on the court in that game.”

"I've got really good players, and all I've got to do is convince them that they deserve it. ... If I have to be anything other than a cheerleader in this game, we ain't winning."
