My friend and mentor from Lexington, PG Peoples, passed away yesterday. He leaves a legacy of bringing people together to move ALL forward. He was the President of the Urban League of Lexington and was one of the first people I met with. His accomplishments are too many to mention but the impact he had on people both young and old is amazing. He helped me build a program that brought people together and reached out to help people throughout the state. We had continued to talk weekly including yesterday morning. I watched Unraveling George last night on HBO Max and it is a must watch if you are into basketball and the history of our game. It was an educational experience for me about my dear friend and mentor George Raveling.

Congratulations to Darius on being awarded the Bob Cousy award. He is the second point guard that played for me to win the award. Tyler Ulis who is on our staff was the first that I coached to win the award!

I’ve spent my entire life focusing on the success and well being of student athletes. Their success in both sports and academics is paramount. I have no problem with Athletes making money and I have had that stance for many years. But what we have been dealing with the last few years is harmful not only to their total success but also the longevity of College Sports as we know it. Yesterday, President Trump took bold action to preserve and protect Collegiate Athletics. I urge Congress to pass bipartisan legislation and SAVE COLLEGE SPORTS!

My first Naismith player of the year Marcus Camby, one of the top 50 college players of all time, with Darius Acuff who is one of the finalist for the Naismith award. I hope Darius gets the recognition tomorrow at the award ceremony!
