Trans people are so often excluded from decisions made about them. I am concerned the puberty blockers trial has been paused not for clinical reasons, nor because govt listened to trans people's constructive concerns about how it will be run, but as a political decision...
I am incredibly proud of Isra and everyone who made the trip to Cuba. They took tons of aid to make sure the people of Cuba knew that there are so many people across the world who stand in solidarity with them. Cuba has always sent aid to countries in need and has trained thousands of physicians across the world, including my childhood physician. @israhirsi is more than just my daughter, she is a brilliant young leader who has always worked hard to advocate for a more just world. She inspires me and so many people with her leadership and dedication. I am forever fortunate to have her as my daughter but I am even more fortunate to know her as the unflinching justice warrior for justice she is. #letcubalive

Op 8 maart 2024 hadden verdachte Muhammed en een vrouw via een dating-app een afspraakje gemaakt. Zij had vooraf aangegeven dat zij geen seks wilde, omdat zij al jaren geen intieme relatie had gehad en bovendien ongesteld was. Maar die avond dwong hij de vrouw hardhandig om seks met hem te hebben. "Jij bent mijn sletje, jij moet doen wat ik zeg", zou hij hebben geroepen terwijl hij de vrouw bij haar hals greep en haar mond afdekte. De vrouw werd meerdere keren bruut door hem verkracht. Ze gilde het uit van de pijn en smeekte hem om te stoppen, maar dat leek hem nog meer op te winden, verklaarde ze bij de politie. Hij bleef haar slaan en sleepte haar alle kanten op met zijn handen om haar keel. "Ik kan geen ademhalen, ik ga dood", riep de ze herhaaldelijk. "Dan ga je maar dood. Je luistert naar mij", zei hij. Nadat Muhammed was vertrokken belde het slachtoffer de politie. Agenten troffen haar volkomen ontredderd aan. Ze had bloeduitstortingen in haar hals en op haar armen en borst. De verdachte had zijn rijbewijs bij haar thuis laten liggen. Hij werd korte tijd later op de snelweg A2 richting Leerdam aan de kant gezet en aangehouden. De 37-jarige Muhammed H. uit Leerdam is vorige week maandag veroordeeld tot drie jaar celstraf, waarvan een half jaar voorwaardelijk, voor de verkrachting van de vrouw in haar woning in Woerden. Ook moet hij van de Utrechtse rechtbank ruim 8.400 euro materiële en immateriële schadevergoeding aan het slachtoffer betalen. ad.nl/woerden/muhamm…
We are absolutely heartbroken that this is how low Britain has sunk. This horrific act truly plumbs new depths. Hatzola is a volunteer-run ambulance service run by the Jewish community but catering to everyone, Jews and non-Jews alike, working with the NHS to save lives as fast as possible. They provide outstanding medical care at lightning speed every hour of every day, and fundraise to buy ambulances and equipment. They are truly a shining example of the Jewish community coming together to help everyone in the most fundamental of ways by giving the gift of life. Burning their ambulances in an attempt to put them out of action is a truly repulsive act of antisemitic hatred in a Britain where Jews now have to keep everything from schools to synagogues under constant guard. Our society has become infested with the sickness of antisemitism. In this case it is not only about catching the perpetrators and restoring the ambulances, but about politicians accepting that by tolerating everything from hate marches to hate preachers, they have created this sickening mess, and time has run out for them to act. The law must change, fast, but so must society. The people spewing obsessive conspiracy theories about Jews, Zionists and Israelis are not social justice warriors, they are hateful bigots who are feeding this madness and must be stood up to and told as much by ordinary decent people.
