Other than potential conspiracy theories, can anyone explain to me how for past 6 months @DrMakaryFDA is all over the media touting flexibility in trials, using RWE in trials, speeding up access to trials that demonstrate efficacy then tell @uniQure_NV $QURE they need to design a placebo-controlled trial with one of the largest databases of disease progression available for any rare disease. The knowledge being gained from this database continues growing daily. It sure sounds to me that there is some underlying sinister reason for this kind of behavior. I hate believing in conspiracies, especially in this situation, but sometimes evidence sure makes them believable. This outcome makes absolutely no sense. Good luck in recruiting patients into a trial with a RCT placebo arm for one of the cruelest deadly diseases out there. Enrolling in this kind of trial would prevent patients who may have gotten the placebo from entering any other trial. Dr Makary understands this. How can he support this kind of outcome?
