Apple knew this was coming which is why they're being so aggressive with Mac pricing.
They're buying up all the memory supply to starve their competition, and keeping prices stable while their competitors are raising prices by hundreds of dollars.
2026 will be the year the Mac truly takes off.

Ouch. Microsoft just raised prices of all its Surface PCs by a A LOT. The Surface Pro 12-inch, which launched last year at $799, now starts at $1,049 for the same config. Surface Laptop 7 and Pro 11, which launched in 2024 for $999, now starts at $1,499. Even the midrange Surface Laptop 13-inch, which many said is the closest thing Microsoft has to a MacBook Neo competitor, is now $1,199, which is $100 more expensive than a MacBook Air M5 and $200 more than the flagship Laptop 7 was in 2024. Of course, this is all due to the current RAM/component crisis. But man, this is tough to swallow. I doubt that there's a big difference and no one would buy a laptop to game.. rather get a console for that price..
