Why Weak U.S. Jobs = Stronger Bitcoin Last Friday (Sept 6th), crypto traders had reason to smile. Bitcoin and ETH both pushed higher but this wasn’t just random price action. The move came right after U.S. jobs data dropped, and the numbers were a shocker. 🔹 August non-farm payrolls: 22K vs 75K expected 🔹 Prior month revised down: 74K → 33K 🔹 Unemployment: 4.3% (a four-year high) Source: FX Street Economic Calendar Translation: U.S. job growth has basically stalled. Why does this matter for us in crypto? Because weaker jobs = weaker economy → higher chance of interest rate cuts at the next Fed meeting (Sept 17th). Here’s the quick breakdown: - Lower rates = cheaper borrowing → more liquidity - More liquidity = more demand for risk assets like crypto & stocks - Historically, BTC thrives when liquidity returns Markets are now pricing in: - 25 bps cut almost certain - 50 bps cut suddenly on the table Source: CME Group That’s why Friday’s rally wasn’t just hype, it was traders front-running liquidity returning. And it wasn’t just crypto: - The U.S. dollar (DXY) sold off hard (risk-off money leaving safety) - Stocks rallied - Bond yields shifted lower All pointing in the same direction: markets expect easier policy ahead. ⚠️ A caveat: crypto isn’t the same beast it was five years ago. With institutions dominating, don’t expect manic upside. But even steadier flows are bullish in a market that’s been starved of liquidity for two years.
