Overall, shared access ends up putting community style operators like us, at a disadvantage. Less usable spectrum, stricter deployment limits, and more constraints compared to established networks. It makes it much harder to actually compete or innovate.

THREAD: Shared access spectrum in the UK sounds good in theory, but in practice it’s very hard to actually build anything meaningful with it. This is from our experience deploying a real network.

VoLTE is undergoing extensive testing across the network. So far it’s been a success with incoming and outgoing calls functioning well. There’s a few bugs to squash but all in all works well.

Over the next few weeks we will be upgrading our core network to support cell broadcast over LTE. For those that use AzurePCS, you may receive a test cell broadcast message like below, and your phone will make a siren like sound.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Later this year, AzurePCS will be obtaining an Ofcom demonstration and trial license and switching on 2 trial sites, in both Cinderford and Newcastle. Should the trials be successful, we will look at a more permanent licensing solution for these areas.

We’ve successfully sent and received our first messages between the AzurePCS network and external network numbers. This is a big milestone. Over the next few weeks we’ll be running extensive testing to ensure reliability and stability.
