@Hamish14453 @savebutterflies Where was that? Direct comparison on the same plant would be convenient - I need the practice!

Essex, Small and Lulworth Skipper all on the same Greater Knapweed plant earlier this week - with a late Large Skipper nearby - can get a bit confusing! #dorsetwt @savebutterflies

This is the kind of thing that should be top news, not irrational sensationalist wildlife stories - raptor persecution is still rife today in the UK. youtube.com/watch?v=Q6NISg…

Can't quite believe this!!! Thought I'd finished my Big Dragonfly year list for Dorset, but no, just gone and found at least 2 Southern Migrant Hawkers again at FP12 Lytchett Bay, found last years 1st for Dorset on 21st July, surely breeding here!!!

Study in a journal of Auk; Stones are used as a incubation stimuli in Common Terns. So not unheard of, but no mention of using a large stone without presence of other eggs.. bit.ly/Laridae_stone_… Cool fact: Larus/Sterna sp. have three brood patches rather than one large patch!

Very late nesting S.Tern on BOPH @harbourbirds Brownsea lagoon webcams (island south-side of Mac Hide)@Brownseablog @DWTBrownsea Can't tell how many eggs she's incubating - looks odd, almost looks like shes sitting on a piece of flint! See cams online~birdsofpooleharbour.co.uk/brownsea-webcam

Recent heathland visits looking for Nightjars has resulted in them being seen on three different Dorset heaths as well as Dartford warblers, Stonechats, Linnets, Siskin and my 1st ever Golden ringed dragonflies all showing well. @harbourbirds @BDSdragonflies @DNightjars

@gardenbirder1 @CraigerUK500 @docmartin2mc @01000011S Nice! a rare find. attached screenshots from 26.01.19 on Brownsea Lagoon, & we saw probably the same leucistic Herring G 2wks before in Poole. Didn't get any decent photographs though.

This interesting Gull (leucistic Herring?) was on Herriotts Pool, CVL on Monday and found dead, hit by a car yesterday). No body this morning. Collected some feathers @docmartin2mc but this may prove it was a Mute Swan/ Canada Goose! Torr Bird @01000011S ?
