I'm told this may be the 1st female Scarlet Darter seen (and seen mating) in the UK - there will be better photos but hopefully these are enough to clinch it - pale stripe between the wing bases and orange patch at base of hindwings both visible @BDSdragonflies @Migrantdragons

Was great to get out to one of the local heathlands to monitor some of our Nightjar nests this afternoon. Two chicks found from the 12 scrapes visited. Aren’t they adorable? 🥰 (Monitored under the @_BTO nest record scheme and for @DNightjars)

Back in June we posted about a ringed Natterer's Bat that we caught whilst undertaking our Nightjar study, which proved to be of great excitement within the Dorset Bat group too. Lovely to see a small piece about this individual in the Dec edition of British Wildlife. @_BCT_
