I've never seen a photograph look so much like a Hopper painting before.

Hegseth fired the Army Chief of Staff Gen Randy George. Immediately.
Gen George probably the best leader I’ve encountered in uniform. Integrity. Experienced combat leader. Solid judgement. Courage. Modesty. Takes care of soldiers. A war going on.

Firing the Army chief of staff in the middle of a war is always a sign that things are going great

@CornwallHeath And maybe we’ll do
In a squirrel or two
While we're poisoning pigeons in the park
We'll murder them all
Amid laughter and merriment
Except for the few
We take home to experiment
My pulse will be quickenin'
With each drop of strych'nine

@JeffreyLuscombe @TheJasonPugh I’ve got the same hat and t-shirt and will forever be grateful to the Princess Margaret team for their care of my father.

March is Multiple Myeloma awareness month. Here I am before the 5K for Multiple Myeloma at Princess Margaret Cancer Hospital a few years ago running for my dad (who died of MM). Fun fact: a couple of years later, I would be at Princess Margaret getting treatment for my own cancer. Remember, the person you’re donating for today may, someday, turn out to be you.

@thirtyspace @foolishyangban Over 25000 nurses were on the 2023 list. Over 80000 teachers on the 2024 list. I work for trade unions. This list was designed to suppress wages for working people as part of the Harris government austerity program. .
English

@BenjaminABarnes @foolishyangban How many nurses are on the sunshine list? I doubt its a lot, and this is a false equivalency. In actuality, i would prefer to see more nurses than Metrolinx VPs and cops on the list. Lack of accountability is conservative kryptonite it seems

@rachkmc Good catch. That does look like a Geoff Hunt cover

@thirtyspace @foolishyangban It does nothing to hold anyone accountable. If you don’t like your nurse and know how much s/he earns that does not assist in accountability for that nurse. That’s what professional regulation is for.
English

@BenjaminABarnes @foolishyangban I find it important that government employees be held to accountability given all money is taken from taxpayers. Irrespective of the value. I absolutely want to know if a police officer treats people like shit and makes over 100k. Thats my money being used inappropriately.
English

@foolishyangban It achieves nothing of value while exposing the names, salaries and employers of hundreds of thousands of people. I suspect it is mostly now used purely for trivial curiousity - who earns most? How much does my neighbour the police officer make? etc.
English

@BenjaminABarnes The standard argument against this would be:
"Why are you against transparency?"
I'm interested to hear why you think it's a bad idea. I personally am pretty neutral on this.

@atrupar @fortpapalia Do you think he knows there is already an International Joint Commission for the Great Lakes?
