Hard to imagine we were on #Anglesey this morning a visit to the Hidden Gardens of Plas Cadnant and these amazing Echiums from the Canaries , a plant I would dearly love to grow ,amazing it comes thru the winter months here so successfully

Also first time seeing Sandwich Bays Lizard orchids, couldn’t believe how many were there. @ukorchids

Well, it IS 14th June after all! Dark Red Helleborine in flower today in North Lancs - usually a little earlier at this site than the standard July flowering, but this is early. 😮 Photo: Paul Harvey.

Yesterday, THIS happened in Anglesey!!!! The prettiest Orchid I have ever seen in the UK or Ireland, an absolute bobby dazzler. Having to stand with one foot each on separate tussocks, separated by deep muddy marsh, meant getting a photo was a bit wobbly, and at arm's length!

@Chardbirder What a stunner Roger, what’s species is it? I’ve only ever had a corn snake when I was a kid I remember having to give it away when we moved house because the landlord wouldn’t let’s us bring it!! I was gutted. 🐍

Highlight of a recent trip to Scotland in June was probably seeing one of our rarest breeding birds in suitable habitat. It’s estimated 1-2 pairs of Purple Sandpipers breed each year in Scotland. Hope they were successful in 2021. Record passed onto local recorder @ukrbbp

A quick trip out to see some local Helleborines before I miss out this year, Violet, Broad-leaved and Narrow-lipped. Phone pics I forgot my camera! @ukorchids @Britainsorchids

Also had the pleasure of this White-tailed Eagle fly over my tent every morning for a week what a beast.

To any orchidophiles planning to head north and west to see Spiranthes romanzoffiana. The ones on Colonsay have buds but no flowers so they should be good for a month or so yet @thenewgalaxy @Mike_Waller_ @ukorchids @LeifBersweden
