Very unfortunate and short sighted. Cdn pork has been recognized around the world because of quality attributes. These are established because of science and research which got us to this point. Lack of continued research will be hurtful for @cdnpork producers.

@grsebek I am sure close to $350-370/space, depends on how you set it up. Sounds like more are going to single room 2400 HD barns to reduce costs.

Exhibit A in why new barns don't make sense currently. 40% increase in costs in 6 years, so the producer needs a 40% increase in revenue before it make sense to put up new ones. The repayment per space😳

Paid $14 for wean pigs for a 1200 hd barn 6 months ago, it is getting filled with $91.83 pigs today...pretty wild a $77.83 swing

@awrestaurants Hey A&W. Went through drive thru for breakfast wraps. This is what we got. Very small and just cheese inside…no bacon. Looks a lot different than the pic at drive thru. Mistake or is this the way it is supposed to be? (Loonie for size reference)

Food Professor recommends a pause to carbon tax on food producers.
Bank of Canada’s own calculations on how it impacts inflation is simplistic and clearly does not understand how this policy will impact food security in Canada.
We have to axe the tax!

The Kielstra farm in Okotoks, paid $180,000 in carbon taxes in 2023 to heat & cool their chicken barns.
By 2030, they will pay $480,000 when the carbon tax reaches $170 per tonne.
Next week, Canadians will see the carbon tax increase by 23%, making life even more unaffordable.
