Five or six months ago, I had the pleasure of participating in the Cinema Synthetica challenge for AI on the Lot. We were given 48 hours to create an AI short based on a script written by the amazing @BernieSu, and divided into teams. I've never actually shared our short here on X, but hope you all enjoy! This is a great example of what can be created in 48 hours with a small team. It could be far better in some respects (I am NOT a voiceover artist lmao), but I do like the direction we took this (especially given how timely our direction was as companions became more of a talking point later on). Remember, this was months ago (which is like decades in AI time). Things are far more improved as far as kitbashing goes nowadays...time to create more stories! Thanks to @MaxEinhorn for the kind inclusion :) and most especially, thanks to @CottonCreative for being the most stellar teammate along with D Ryan Reeb! (Ryan, please get on X, lol). Anyways, would love to see us all jam out some more on stories together soon. Any thoughts on challenges you'd all like to have us host, perhaps? Themes, etc?

✨ Premiering today at TIFF Sneak peek at the opening of Cinema Synthetica, the documentary I directed, premiering at TIFF. The doc takes an inside look at @aionthelot first AI filmmaking competition and what AI means for the future of moviemaking. Since it's a film about AI, I used the film as an experiment to push what's possible in using different gen AI tools to help tell a non-fiction story in a more visual and engaging way. Plus, there's tons of AI happening under the hood to improve the visual and audio quality of a run and gun production. After following the three incredible teams and watching their process, it left me feeling more hopeful and excited about the future of filmmaking.
