@Fi_BGB A Uni friend of mine did it this Summer with her hubby & 2 kids (teens). Eurostar to Brussels, Amsterdam then Austria (Zell), Slovenia Lake Bled, Trieste, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Trogir. She said Travelling by train & local buses was really straightforward. Did 2 weeks.

So twitter friends - has anyone done inter-rail around Europe as a family holiday? Any tips? Have looked at Seat61 who makes it sound easy. Is it really?

@beckybeckyb Witley Common was the site of huge WW1 & 2 training camps. Canadians mostly. There's nothing to see there anymore other than lovely walks, but I've been on 2 digs there and can tell you what's underneath it/was there. There's an audio tour too on izi.travel.

@emrandallwrites In theory yes, but I think they’re more usually just used for time. The Byzantine lot were very good at this. Might have got a bit lost after them, not sure.

@shelleysilas @girlsreallyrule I don't know the full ins and outs, they're given to various groups of people and being a member of the royal household is one of those groups. You'd need to google. They were issued for the platinum Jubilee, Golden Jubilee & Silver too.

Now the press is obsessed with Harry and Meghan holding hands and calling it "inappropriate" because they are the only ones doing it. Zara Tindall (daughter of Princess Anne) and her husband are also displaying affection. Keep calling the double standard out.

My wife is worried about all these people sitting in St Paul’s Cathedral with the service not yet to start for ages, from a toilet pov. She’s now reassuring herself by saying “They must have portaloos outside.”

It was lovely to see GWH supporter @DoraRingland at Brook Farm Camp for our @Harpandamonkey show this afternoon in her wonderful Hospital Blues!! @ChiefHutBuilder had just the right transport ready and waiting for her!!
