I lost my job, and slowly, I started losing my home, my wife, and my place in my own family.
My wife and I dated for 4 years before getting married. We were blessed with two kids, a boy and a girl, and agreed to focus on raising them well.
We lived in my late father’s house after our wedding. My siblings stayed in the other flat while we occupied one. It wasn’t perfect, but it was home.
Then everything changed.
Six years into the marriage, I lost my job.
I searched everywhere, from one state to another, but nothing came through. During that time, my wife became the one holding the family together. She worked in a private school and carried most of the responsibility.
I had an uncompleted building and suggested she could start her own school there, but she said she didn’t have the strength to start from scratch.
That same year, she told me we needed to move out and rent a place.
I told her the truth, I had no money. I promised we would move once I got a job.
Unknown to me, she had been discussing with her stepmother, who strongly supported the idea.
Then one day, I came back from job hunting, and everything was gone.
The house was empty.
My wife had packed all our belongings and moved out with the kids. She only left the keys behind.
