Now in Blarney Killeens with the convoy. Strong respect shown throughout. Convoy pulled in where needed to let people continue their day. Across the country, the message is clear. People are under real pressure from fuel and energy costs. It should not come to this. But people feel unheard. Government must act. I disagree with my former colleague on this. It is very difficult to predict a political landscape that is at least a decade into the future. As centrist parties, FF & FG could do ok perhaps after a merger. SF would lose its raison d’etre & would face strong competition on the left. Working class & left-leaning unionists likely to prefer Lab, SDs or PbP. All to play for politically in a UI I would say.
