Thanks to Elizabeth Jobson, Enid, Endeavour Academy, Karen, Dawn, Debbie, Pam, Liz and Philip Tebbs mum for the kind donations of squares for project 4,191. We are busy putting together the blanket to represent the daily equivalent of exclusions in 2022-2023.

Project 2,999 on tour of England to support local areas in preventing preventable exclusion. Seeing young people with the blanket and talking about their experiences was, as always the highlight of my week. #youthmatters2025 Thank you to the Council for Disabled Children 🙂

@tombennett71 Hello Tom, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your points. Let me know when works for you. Let's all work together on this complex issue.
English
1. These numbers are completely wrong- they’ve massively inflated them by including suspensions. And primary exclusions are *incredibly* rare- on average a school will do one every 16 years.
2. Students aren’t excluded for being misunderstood, or looking out the window, but for violence towards others, abusive behaviour, or ruining the learning of others for months. Behaviour no one would tolerate against their own child, or in their own workplace.
3. ‘Raising awareness’ should surely also mean ‘raising understanding’ not just ‘peddling anti-exclusion propaganda’.
This kind of thin, uninformed coverage creates a climate where it becomes harder to keep children safe. This kind of campaign is well-meant, but ultimately works against child safeguarding. Great work, everyone.

#project2999 Each square of this beautiful blanket represents a child excluded from school each day 2022/23. We must identify all needs earlier, value & respect developmental differences & ensure adjustments & support are in place to include not exclude. 🙏@BlogSenco
