@Matthewp7741 @azzmaster Before last year, they ranked 8th, 14th and 11th. That’s consistently solid to good defence over multiple seasons. The team has generally been competent defensively until the last 2 years.

The Nuggets roster is far from perfect, but the mental gymnastics that some people do to pretend that Jokic’ own weaknesses aren’t part of those flaws is crazy. Any team with him on it is going to be behind an 8 ball defensively because he’s a pg that rebounds not a center

One Nuggets starter is "almost guaranteed" to be sacrificed this offseason if the team moves to retain restricted free agent Peyton Watson, per @BennettDurando “One of the Nuggets’ top priorities will be retaining restricted free agent Peyton Watson, and if they do, at least one current starter is almost guaranteed to be sacrificed in a corresponding cost-cutting move.“ (denverpost.com/2026/05/01/nug…)

That feels like a very poor decision IMO This also feels very Nuggets. Feels like they’ll try and lock up Peyton Watson and trade Cam. Maybe from a big swing standpoint that’s all they can pull off. However, not to switch up the leadership feels very misguided to me.

David Adelman is expected to return as head coach of the Denver Nuggets for his second season, per @BennettDurando “Despite chatter that Adelman may already be on the hot seat one year into his tenure, the early sense within the organization is that he’ll return for his second season. He led the Nuggets to 54 regular-season wins with 28 different starting lineups before wiping out in the playoffs.” (denverpost.com/2026/05/01/nug…)

It would be completely justified if DEN wanted to pivot. The Nuggets played with a lack of team spirit and trust on the floor, and belief in each other. Absence of rotation changes (Strawther), stale two man game vs McDaniels and Rudy, and no shift in defensive coverages

@Shapalicious I’ve given up on ownership ever course-correcting. Even after the Booth disaster, they doubled down on more of the same. They hired a rookie coach because he was available and cheap, and rookie co-GMs because they were the cheapest viable option

Who would you have liked to win mvp in each of those years? If Embiid won in 21/22 I think we could easily be making the same argument about how bad those MVPs look based on his playoff resume In 24 jokic had the same record as Shai so the 1/2 seeding thing seems irrelevant. I could see arguments for Giannis in 22 and Luka in 24 but not a hill I’m gonna die on

further emphasizing my point. Jokers 3 MVPs are media awards. propped up by analytic fetishes & spreadsheet simps who can’t grasp that Jokic has pretty much had the same exact season for x5 yrs w/ a system & roster around him that bolster his advanced numbers. truth be told he’s a x1 MVP winner that benefited from media hype to edge out 2 more 🤷‍♂️
Ty tweet media
Ty@balldontTy

the thing we’re omitting here & why the media “overhype” is relevant is that it snowballs & results in the very awards they turn around & give the player. Jokic is 3x MVP winner. 2021 he avg 26/10/8 on a 3 seed. he won in landslide over Embiid, who avg 28/10/3 as a 1 seed 2022 he avg 27/13/7 on a SIX SEED, again won over Embiid who avg 30/12/4 on a 4 seed 2024 he avg 26/12/9 on a 2 seed, won over SGA & Luka.. we all know that MVP debate. Point is, media narratives at the time were Embiid is playoff choker, which seriously hurt his MVP motion. Jokic was viewed as the advanced stats Second Coming of Christ. In these close MVP races, media perception of Jokic helped him win votes. If Jokic had the narrative that’s on him as of today back in 21, 22 or 24, does he win? I genuinely think no. There’s an argument to be made if media isn’t in love with Jokic to the level they were, there’s a world where he’s a maybe 1 time winner. There’s a reason rings are the ultimate value in weighing legacy over MVP awards. no amount of media hype can put that ring on your finger.

@jdub_goat @abdz24 Roster was dog shit in 2025. They had about 6 1/2 playable NBA players. The front office soft punted both 2024 and 2025 to develop late round draft picks.

Regarding the Jokic lack of deep playoff runs Denvers contention window was from 2020-2024 Half of those years they dealt with Murray, mpj season ending injuries in objectively weaker nba seasons. So a bit dishonest with the “1 WCF run” hit jobs.

The Nuggets 2 man game has always really been a 3 man game. No AG renders it useless, we saw this play out all year long. I’m so sad about Mr Nugget. I hate that you simply cannot rely on his presence any more

murray’s overtaxed in a way you only see from co-stars next to offensive bigs, like they ask him to have steph and manu level of role versatility on offense instead of just regular low-level all-star guard stuff

@aronov_emmanuel I dont think hes ever had it. Hes had a bit of dog in him sure but his hustle has always been lacking. Doesnt crash the offensive glass with enough force doesnt dive for loose balls doesnt harass ball handlers. Just doesnt have IT or the requisite energy for his role

Think about Marcus Smart and Christian Braun. Both supposed to be the defensive stopper/hustle guy for the team and Marcus Smart willing to die out there. Christian Braun do not got the requisite heart or hustle for his role
