@Arrrghonaut @uniquemoviemom Also, for better or worse, TRoS makes it so Palps knew how to transfer his Sith Eternal consciousness into Luke if Luke strikes him down in anger. So (retroactively) Luke doesn’t necessarily have to join Palpatine for Palpatine to get what he wants.

Palpatine was a real one for respecting the 1v1 It's kind of a nice detail as Luke's not getting phased by Vader trying to lure him to the dark side but loses his shit once he mentions his sister.

Ik this is a hot take but a redeemed living Vader could've worked, but only if:
1. He's kept in a prison temple where he meditates all day and gives force advice to jedi
2. He's only occasionally let out to deal with some large threat
3. The galaxy is aware he killed palpatine
