Frankly, I think this is just a lazy -- and probably disingenuous -- gotcha attempt, but I'll respond as if it's good faith. 1. AAV is generally a decent way of gauging relative value, but it falls apart when discussing QBs. QB pay is artifically deflated, because if they truly got paid what they were worth, you wouldn't be able to field a viable roster. The question is not 'what is this QB's isolated value', but rather 'what can we afford to pay this QB without gutting our entire roster.' 2. For a better gauge of QB and DE value, we can look at look at Wins Above Replacement (WAR) estimates. From the 2025 WAR figures in *Link 1*, we can compare T10 QB WAR vs Will Anderson's WAR: In 2025, the top 10 QBs by WAR per 100 plays averaged 0.461 WAR. If we multiple this by 6 -- 600 plays being a reasonable full-season number of plays for a starting QB -- we get the WAR/season of a, average T10 QB: 2.77 WAR. If we repeat this process, but only extrapolate from the 10th-best QB: 2.13 WAR. By comparison, Will Anderson: 0.563 WAR in 2025. In other words, the ~10th-best QB ~3.8x more valuable than Will Anderson for a given season. To put into perspective how much more valuable QB is than edge, of the 36 QBs with >250 plays in 2025, there are only 2 which recorded lower WAR/play than Will Anderson: Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. (see also *link 2* for some more writing on WAR and the methodology) 3. These WAR estimates are congruent with what we see in NFL betting line movements. When an elite QB projects to miss time, point spreads generally move ~5-7 points, vs an elite edge vausing ~1.0-1.5 point shift. 4. In additional to all of this, QBs have a lower injury risk than edge rushers (*link 3*).
