If your eyes were in constant pain and sensitive to light, would you not feel a little tempted to remove them? Chronic pain is nasty.

Fun fact- transhumanism is illegal.
I've been in a decade long battle to remove my feet that cause me agony.

@TylerMcGuirk_ I played this game a month ago and really liked it, though didn’t believe it beat my favourite RPGs. There’s a lot of missable stuff that’s really good. I saw some of it, you might’ve missed it.
Also I now recommend you Live A Live. Get the fan translation and look up nothing.

finished chrono trigger for the first time
I'm surprisingly underwhelmed when this is a game that's been held in high esteem for decades. I respect its scope, structure, and presentation but the writing refuses to flesh itself out and the gameplay is thoroughly unremarkable

It’s also not the only reason I like the game, but would you not consider it a nice bonus? And, if altered in a remake, a negative?

@csquaredEddy Death by 1000 cuts to me. Majora’s Mask is one of my favorite games of all time, and it is made by its oppressive atmosphere and challenging gameplay.
I will let you have your opinion (and I won’t bother you anymore) but I’ll never understand it personally!

@csquaredEddy The guard is a gameplay change, of which there are also many. Another thing I dislike about it. Lots of changes to make the game less interesting.
But the writing, not well documented sadly. When I played MM3D I could feel a line was off & I used longplays to check.

It's visual upgrades are negligible, mostly making things more clear/sharp & don't lose anything in translation from the OG, and it changes and removes some of the more annoying/flawed mechanics of the original.

@Valeska_Loki OoT 3D’s graphics make a lot of sense when you play it on a small handheld screen and it’s darkened because of that. If it wasn’t bright it’d be unplayable on public transport, outside, anywhere but indoors.

OoT's felt like some pieces of intentional atmosphere & shadows were lost in translation, making everything a little too bright.
Haven't played nor seen enough of MM3D yet so I can't really judge.

Again. Japanese requires more attention because of how different it is from English. Sans is a word derived from French.

@EGX001S Besides, he let the Japanese translators have a lot of freedom over the humour to make it work for the audience. This is good! As a result, the script is quite different and not an accurate translation… But a localisation.
Other languages are not being extended this grace.

@EGX001S English to Spanish is a translation 10x easier than English to Japanese.
He’s already done the large part of the work for him: writing out the intent of each line. It would NOT be difficult.
French, Spanish, German, Italian, Brazilian Portugese? All easier than Japanese.

@Karmandlul @OctorokR I suppose personally I don’t value continuity in the Zelda series, so it colours my view on this.
The way I have enjoyed the series is mostly through its isolated parts. At no point do I think Zelda lore has been good. Majora’s Mask is the best game and it has no lore ties.

@BucketCuth @OctorokR I was fine with BotW bucking the weight of it, seemingly being so far removed that it basically didn't matter anymore. It wasn't as brazenly contradictory as TotK though. Putting it as corny as I can, it feels like it somehow overburdens the series with non-continuity

The reason why so many people hate the story of Tears of the Kingdom mostly boils down to the fact that literally none of the previous games can fit with its canon, which effectively means that all pre-existing lore from the Zelda series is meaningless.
