Outright rejection of any collective dealings of any kind with tenants (often with a half-baked excuse) is the universal feature that appears in every response from a landlord to a tenant union. It could not be more clear how much tenant organizing terrifies them.

“According to the law, they are responsible for the building structure that it is safe for us tenants to live in. So anything they fix it’s supposed to be out of their pocket because we are paying into it”

“I’m fighting against the extra rent for fixing anything that’s in this building, I don’t think we should be paying for any fencing, any roof that needs to be fixed”
