My pregnancy came w persistent vomiting, nausea, & constipation, torn/cut body parts, permanent scars & a reshaped body, risks wrt BP/blood clots & diabetes, exhaustion, weakness, dehydration, depression, & dysphoria. It’s inhumane to force anyone to be pregnant #AbortionRights

And I know I've gotten real graphic here, but I think anyone who has given birth will say I've barely touched the tip of the iceberg. Birth is graphic. It can be traumatic. It is also worth it if you want to do it. It's violence if you don't.

More than half of U.S. states have seen a decline in the number of licensed foster homes since 2021. So what’s happening? Child welfare authorities are placing foster youth in juvenile detention facilities instead. I’m glad more attention is being paid to this.

Justice Thomas's $267,230 RV was financed at least in part by a wealthy friend in the health care industry. It was not reported in his financial disclosures. Is this behavior consistent with the ethical guidelines Chief Justice Roberts claims the Court abides by?

NEW: On Saturday night, a man in a suburb of Chicago executed an 8-year-old girl because she was being “too loud.” Serabi Medina was riding her scooter in Portage Park when a 43-year-old man walked up to her and shot her in the head. #twill chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2023/8/6…

Disney is not promoting this show like they should. Marsai Martin is an executive producer for Saturdays. It’s a coming of age comedy about a 14 year old girl who loves to skate with her friends. You can stream Saturdays on Disney+.

In China, the worst floods in modern history have driven a million people from their homes. In AZ, the temperature was over 110 degrees for 31 straight days. Maybe the U.S. & China should work together to combat climate change rather than combatting each other in a new Cold War.

@THATMOMx4 @emilykmay So relatable. We’re just worrying about today, thanks! Folks can keep their long-term, ableist “success” stories, I’m trying to do Wednesday!

@emilykmay When we went to our autism support center, they kept telling us that A could still “absolutely go to college!” I said we’re just trying to finish 6th grade. And the way they relaxed & started to give us the straight talk was amazing.

When my daughter got her autism diagnosis almost three years ago, they told me that she had high support needs and that she may never speak. And when I told people that, they automatically redirected me to “success stories.” /1

I don’t want success to be measured by disability “not being noticed.” I need to see that things will be okay if my disabled child continues to be very much disabled. /4

For each $1 stolen in shoplifting, there's at least $5 in wage theft and $100 in tax evasion. Have you ever heard about a wage theft or tax evasion "crime wave"? What do you think this tells you about how reporters determine what is "news" and what is ignored, and who benefits?

It is wild to me that we have been socialized to be like, "yeah you're bleeding vaginally and it's causing cascading issues throughout your body but there is literally no excuse for you to NOT come into the office, and frankly it's weird that you asked"

@kvetchkween Too bad her NYT interview ran this weekend before this tweet, would have made a nice additional question. She talks about being taken out of context, but honestly, you can say whatever you want on twitter. This is what you choose to say, JCO?!

@brickmack @HowtoADHD Spikey skillsets / asynchronous development can be hell Especially when they fully expect you to be even across the board Since you're exceptional at A they expect you to be great at everything, If they value B and you're still working on it they get resentful af

@brickmack @HowtoADHD Thanks for this description! I look back on myself (late Dx) and look at my child and see this spikiness and just don’t know how to best support it sometimes. twitter.com/cmpcmpcmp/stat…

@HowtoADHD Advanced academically + lagging behavioral development is such a hard combo. E.g., age 6, but needs typical 8yo+ academics AND typical 3-4yo behavior expectations/accommodations. I have to think in terms of multiple ages: chronology, height, reading level, self-control, etc.
