The hills and valleys of Himachal Pradesh have nurtured generations of soldiers whose valour and commitment have brought honour to the nation. The courage and sacrifice of our brave soldiers shall forever remain etched in the heart of the nation and will continue to inspire future generations to uphold the highest values of service to the nation.

Attended and addressed the 9th Convocation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala today. Praising Himachal Pradesh as Dev Bhoomi and Veer Bhoomi, the state has made significant contributions to the nation’s armed forces and is known for its rich hospitality, culture and traditions. Modern universities must prioritise faculty development, encourage innovation and strengthen collaboration to build a globally competitive education system. Highlighting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, students and youth are among the most important stakeholders in realising this aspiration and we called for inclusive development where no state or section of society is left behind.

Delighted to arrive in Himachal Pradesh on my maiden visit to the state after assuming office and was warmly received by Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri. Kavinder Gupta Ji , Hon’ble Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister, Shri. Chander Kumar Ji and dignitaries at Kangra Airport. My heartiest thanks to the beloved people of Himachal Pradesh for the warm welcome.

Met the Officer Trainees of the 79th Batch of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) at Uprashtrapati Bhavan today. Revenue Service officers are the guardians of the nation’s financial strength. We described honest taxpayers as the nation’s greatest patriots and they should always be treated with respect, while tax evasion must be identified and dealt with firmly. Shri Ravi Agrawal Ji, Chairman, CBDT; Shri Pankaj Kumar Mishra Ji, Member (Administration), CBDT; Ms Anita Sinha Ji, Principal DG–IT (Training); and Shri Sibichen K. Mathew Ji, DG, National Academy of Direct Taxes, were present on the occasion.

Today attended ‘Sargam 2026’, a performance by the prestigious Indian Naval Symphonic Orchestra that celebrates the Indian Navy’s rich traditions through a blend of military, classical, and contemporary music, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The band presented a vibrant musical repertoire featuring Hindustani fusion to Brazilian samba-inspired compositions. The performance also included pieces ranging from legendary tamil music composer Shri M. S. Viswanathan’s ‘Rajavin Parvai’ to traditional folk tunes from western India. The band also performed a special patriotic musical presentation on Operation Sindoor named ‘Kasam Sindoor Ki’. @indiannavy

Today paid floral tributes to Param Vir Chakra awardee Lance Naik Albert Ekka at the Albert Ekka War Memorial in Agartala, Tripura. We remembered the extraordinary courage and supreme sacrifice of the 1971 Indo-Pak War hero during the Battle of Gangasagar, describing it as a timeless example of the indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. Recalling my visit to the janmabhoomi of Lance Naik Albert Ekka in Gumla, Jharkhand, during my tenure as Governor of Jharkhand, I said that the nation continues to draw inspiration from the gallant soldier’s bravery and selfless service.

Glad to meet and interact with members of Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in International Trade & Fair Centre, Hapania, Tripura today on the occasion of International Women’s Day and lauded their contribution to grassroots development and women’s empowerment. India has witnessed a major transformation in the past decade, moving from the concept of women development to women-led development. Noting the growing achievements of women in education and entrepreneurship, I expressed confidence that many Lakhpati Didis would soon become Crorepati Didis, further strengthening the nation’s economy. Visited SHG stalls at the International Trade & Fair Centre, and was briefed about the local products being showcased by Self-Help Groups from various districts.
