He’s got my full support. Given his earnings he probably wouldn't be eligible for his @uk_sport funding as it’s means tested. @paddle_uk should re-instate his position in the team. In Olympic sports the money rarely makes it to the athletes and they expect complete control.

@rouleur I think the above is another way guide c**ts who work in the sport to remain there, they are already impossible to sack while the athletes are disposable. They'll find other ways to abuse. Good culture, good people and an independent ombudsman is the answer.

@BBCJohnBeattie I'd generally like the police to target motorbike and moped crime, a big issue in London and now in Manchester. My own footage below, far more dangerous and v hard to police. Don't dilute stretched resources on e-mobility when other countries have embraced it to their benefit.

Have just spoken to a bike shop worker. One of their clients broke a collar bone after being knocked down by one of the big electric bikes. Says he doesn't consider them as bicycles. They need legislation he says. Many illegal, don't need to peddle them, go too fast. Comments?

What I hate about the honours system is that it's consistently awarded to a minority of terrible, high-profile people, the latest intake being a prime example. The majority of incredible recipients deserve better.

There are a lot of good people working @BritishCycling and many brilliant volunteers making cycling happen as a sport and pastime, in all its forms, but things need to change. I hope this article helps bring that change about.

@bruce_laidlaw I’m not offering a solution minus directing your feelings to the organisation and not directly to the athletes. Going professional only realistically applies to endurance, leaving out Para, Track, BMX, many under 23 categories etc.

@CallumSkinner What’s the answer though @CallumSkinner ? Consult the athletes on morals before signing up ‘partners’? Give athletes vetos? They don’t have to ride for BC, try their hand at a normal job, or join the professional ranks, or join a road team on continent. See how far morals go?

Important point regarding British Cycling’s new parter. Please appreciate that contractually and internally the athletes have zero influence, control or platform to be anything but positive or face dismissal. For many that’d mean the end of their career/livelihood.

It’s not like playing for United and moving to City. For many disciplines it’s British Cycling or nothing.
